PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE – COMMERCIAL ARTIST

Art Director and Coordinator The Center for Development and Learning
Designed, directed and implemented the art program at The Center for Development and Learning. Directed
a three-year grant that was funded with a budget of $75,000, which was designed to use art as a vehicle to
reach at-risk students. Worked with five schools within five parishes, consisting of 225 students, and
managed a staff of two assistants and fifteen teacher aids. Responsible for creating the overall concept of the
“Smart Art” program and the curriculum of instruction, teaching 165 classes, managing the budget, and
dissemination of moneys. Arranged and coordinated three exhibitions at The Contemporary Art Center, and
one exhibit at The J. Paul Getty Institute for Education at Loyola University. The program was presented at
two national conferences. I was the recipient of two awards in two consecutive years by The National
Endowment for the Arts and the Presidents Committee on the Arts. The completed work over the course of
three years consisted of the creation of 75 life-size sculptures, five 12-foot totem poles, and five 8-foot
stained glass, self-standing windows. All of the sculptures are now permanently displayed in schools.

Exhibit Specialist Smithsonian Institute, Washington, D.C.
Nationally competitive permanent position working in conjunction with designers and curators in the
preparation and installation of exhibits, involving every aspect of two to three dimensional construction; silk
screening, graphics, photographic development, sculpting, painting, fabrication, framing and matting (60
shows, 2 years experience).

Sculptor Walt Disney/Hanna Barbera Productions
Created original sculptures ranging from architectural pieces to life-size human forms. Work included all
types of fabrication from mold-making, painting, model-making, fiberglass layout and construction.

Resident Sculptor B’Nai Brith, Washington, D.C.
Resident sculptor for project “Dolls for Democracy”. Tasks included producing busts of famous and notable
people and reproducing hundreds of individual castings for distribution internationally.

Designer 1984 World’s Fair, New Orleans, Louisiana
Co-created various designs and models from which the entranceway to the Fair was composed.

Sculptor Smithsonian Institute, Washington, D.C.
Commissioned to sculpt pieces to be permanently displayed in the museum.

Film Art Director TNT Productions, Hollywood Talking Pictures – “The Redeemer” and “The Homecoming”
Co-Director of Staff for Props, Costumes, and Set Design departments for movie produced by TNT
Productions. Coordinator of set decoration and makeup. Also commissioned to produce the three-
dimensional special effects, including life-sized mannequin.

Producer National Anti-Nuclear March on Washington
Co-producer of pre-recorded segment aired on national television; handled all aspects of production ranging
from storyboard direction, script writing, and collaborating with camera crews and editing.

Producer/Designer United States Postal Service
Producer and Designer of national traveling slide show exhibit commissioned by the United States Postal
Service; worked with government officials, bringing their vision into a visual format. Designed storyboard,
developed visuals, including layout and production, coordinating all steps through to completion.

Makeup Designer Consultant Time Magazine, Washingtonian Magazine, BBC Arena Stage, Washington, D.C./Folger Theatre, Washington, D.C. Over a six-year period, designed original three-dimensional images used in primetime television, film, and theatre. Designed, executed, and gave instruction to clients and over 400 cast members. Worked closely with directors, lighting designers, and actors.
